Overview
The screening test behind most UPSSSC Group C recruitments.
The Preliminary Eligibility Test is UPSSSC's common first stage for Group C recruitment in Uttar Pradesh. A PET score does not lead to a job by itself; UPSSSC uses it to shortlist candidates for the main exams of individual posts, such as Lekhpal or Junior Assistant, as those are advertised.
Applications under Advertisement 16-Exam/2026 opened on 3 August 2026 and, after an extension, closed on 7 September 2026. The written exam is on 23, 24 and 25 October 2026.

The corrigendum and exam notice do not describe the paper. The pattern below is how several publishers report the PET, consistent with previous years. Check the admit card and the advertisement on upsssc.gov.in for the official version.
- 100 objective multiple-choice questions, one mark each, in two hours.
- A quarter of a mark deducted for each wrong answer.
- Topics spanning Indian history, geography, economy and polity, general science, elementary arithmetic, Hindi, English, reasoning, current affairs, general awareness and graph and table interpretation.
