Overview

Tamil Nadu's big combined examination, with prelims on 1 November.

The Combined Civil Services Examination-II fills Group II and Group IIA posts across Tamil Nadu's services — assistants and supervisors in the secretariat and departments, with Group II covering interview posts and Group IIA non-interview posts. TNPSC published Notification No. 07/2026 on 11 August 2026 and Addendum 7A/2026 on 3 September 2026.

Applications closed on 9 September 2026. The preliminary examination is on 1 November 2026, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

The vacancy count moved

The notification advertised 821 posts. The addendum revised some post counts and added others — a Probation Officer post, Supervisor of Industrial Co-operatives and Assistant posts — taking the widely reported total to 846. The addendum, linked below, is the authority for each post code.

Exam pattern

A 300-mark prelims with no negative marking, then the mains.

The minimum qualifying mark is 90 out of 300, and nothing is deducted for a wrong answer. The prelims only shortlists for the mains.

Group II posts add an oral test; Group IIA posts are filled on the written marks. Candidates must also have adequate knowledge of Tamil.
