Overview
1,871 Sub-Inspector posts across Delhi Police, five CAPFs and CISF Fire.
SSC CPO is the Staff Selection Commission's examination for Sub-Inspectors in the Delhi Police and the Central Armed Police Forces. The 2026 notice, released on 10 September 2026, lists 1,871 tentative vacancies, including a separate stream for Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF with its own age limit and qualification.
Any graduate aged 20 to 25 on 1 August 2026 can apply for the Delhi Police and CAPF posts. Online applications are open until 30 September 2026 at 11 PM on ssc.gov.in.

Eligibility
Age, qualification and nationality.

Reserved categories get relaxation in the upper age limit as set out in the notice.
Educational qualification
- SI in Delhi Police and SI (GD) in CAPFs: a bachelor's degree from a recognised university, or equivalent.
- SI (Fire) in CISF: a B.Sc. with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; or Class 10 plus a three-year engineering diploma in one of the branches the notice lists — Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Automobile, Chemical, Mining, Aeronautical or Telecommunication.
- Final-year students can apply, but must hold the qualification by 30 September 2026, the closing date.
Physical and medical standards
Height, chest and endurance standards differ by post, gender and category, and are tested after Paper-I. Read them in the notice before applying — they rule out more candidates than the written papers do.

₹100, with wide exemptions.

Pay online by BHIM UPI, net banking, or a Visa, MasterCard, Maestro or RuPay debit card, by 1 October 2026 at 11 PM. An application whose payment has not gone through stays marked incomplete.

Exam pattern
Two computer-based papers with a timer on every part.
Both papers are objective and computer-based, and each part runs on its own timer, so time saved in one part cannot be used in the next. Questions in the first three parts of both papers are set in Hindi and English.

Negative marking
0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer in Paper-I, and 0.50 marks in Paper-II. English Comprehension carries 200 of Paper-II's 320 marks, so it decides more of the final score than any other part.
When a paper runs in several shifts, SSC normalises the scores before drawing up merit lists.

Selection process
Four stages, all mandatory.

Every stage is mandatory. Candidates are shortlisted from one stage to the next on the cut-offs SSC sets.

How to apply
Online on ssc.gov.in only.
- 1Complete the one-time registration on ssc.gov.in, or sign in if you already have an account on the current SSC website.
- 2Open the application for the Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and CAPFs Examination, 2026 and fill it in.
- 3Pay the ₹100 fee online by 1 October 2026, unless you are exempt.
- 4Submit before 11 PM on 30 September 2026, and keep a copy of the submitted form.
- 5If you find a mistake, use the correction window from 8 to 10 October 2026. Correction charges apply.
Apply a few days early
Government portals slow down sharply in the last days before a deadline. Submitting early leaves time to fix a failed payment.
