Overview
Graduate-level railway posts; the indicative notice is out, the detailed CEN is days away.
The Railway Recruitment Boards have issued an indicative notice for CEN 06/2026, covering Non-Technical Popular Categories at graduate level — posts such as Station Master, Goods Train Manager, Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist and Senior Clerk cum Typist. It lists 3,477 tentative vacancies at Levels 5 and 6.
Applications are to run from 8 October to 6 November 2026 on rrbapply.gov.in.
Wait for the detailed CEN before you rely on anything here
An indicative notice carries the total and the window, not the rules. The detailed CEN 06/2026 — with post-wise and RRB-wise vacancies, age limits, qualifications and the exam pattern — is expected on 7 October 2026. Any post-wise table circulating before then is not from the RRBs.

Eligibility
A degree; the exact rules come with the detailed CEN.
Graduate-level NTPC posts need a bachelor's degree from a recognised university. RRB notices count age on 1 January of the following year — 1 January 2027 for this cycle — and the detailed CEN will give each post's age band, qualification and medical standard.
RRB applications also require that your name and date of birth match your Class 10 certificate, and candidates are asked to authenticate with DigiLocker or Aadhaar while creating the account.
03
Application fee
The standard RRB fee, mostly refunded if you sit the CBT.
| Candidate | Fee | Refunded after attending CBT 1 |
|---|---|---|
| All candidates, unless listed below | ₹500 | ₹400 |
| SC, ST, ex-servicemen, PwBD, women, transgender, minorities and Economically Backward Class | ₹250 | ₹250 |
This is the fee structure RRBs have used in recent CENs, including CEN 05/2026. Confirm it against the detailed CEN 06/2026 before paying.
04
Selection process
Two computer-based tests, then a skill test for some posts.
- 1First Stage Computer Based Test (CBT 1), used to screen
- 2Second Stage Computer Based Test (CBT 2)
- 3Typing skill test or computer-based aptitude test, depending on the post
- 4Document verification and medical examination
Station Master posts take a computer-based aptitude test; typist posts take a typing skill test. Marks are normalised across shifts. The detailed CEN sets the question counts, duration and negative marking for each stage.
